Description

Age range 6 to 9 Kids will discover the dreamers, inventors, aviation pioneers, and record breakers behind man's quest to fly as they explore the myths and legends, wondrous flying machines of the past and future, and the science of aerodynamics in this fun-filled activity book. Through projects and experiments--from building a foam glider and helicopter or creating a Lindbergh compass to experimenting with a Da Vinci parachute to understand drag and thrust--children will investigate what makes flight possible and develop a better understanding of the rich history of aviation. The projects, which are easy to follow and require little adult supervision, use commonly found household products--many from the recycling box. With fun facts, trivia, jokes, comics, and hands-on activities, Explore Flight! also features "Words to Know" highlighted and defined within the text to reinforce new vocabulary.
