Author Biography

Matthew Fazio is a mathematics teacher and tutor who integrates his real-world experience into curriculum design and delivery. Matt earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Florida, a Master of Arts in Adolescent Education from the City University of New York's Hunter College and an Early Career Fellowship from Math for America. Prior to his career in education, Matt was a project coordinator in the electrical engineering industry and, prior to that, a financial analyst developing investment models for portfolio management. In addition to mathematics, Matt maintains interests in stand-up comedy, music, and hiking with his dog, Tater. Concetta Ortiz is a High School Math Instructional Lead at the New York City Department of Education in Brooklyn, New York. She has been working in public education for a decade, spending eight of those years a middle school math teacher. She has a passion for connecting math content to context and continues that work through her leadership role. Carpenter Collective is a graphic design and branding studio led by partners Jessica and Tad Carpenter. They focus on bringing powerful messages to life through branding, packaging, illustration, and design.
