Description

When John Surtees clinched the 1964 World Drivers' Championship at the wheel of a Formula 1 Ferrari, he already had seven motor cycle titles under his belt riding for the equally famous Italian MV Agusta stable. So, at the age of 30, he became the first man to achieve the distinction of winning World Championships on two wheels and four, a feat which remains unmatched today. Surtees' career spanned nearly thirty years - from 1949 to 1978 as mechanic, learner, rider, driver, engineer and constructor. His activities brought him into contact with all the notabilities of the period, from competitors to constructors, and many of them were and are controversial figures, particularly Colin Chapman and Enzo Ferrari. This is a full autobiography charting a unique motorbike and racing car career by a major participator.
