Description

Seashells have been used since before records began as currency, jewels, tools, medicines, magic symbols, and are a source of endless fascination for both children and adults alike. Here, native interest meets natural history in this superbly illustrated account of the science and culture of seashells. With close-up photography and explanations of different shell types - bivalve, univalves, cephalopods - how they are formed, what mollusks inhabit them, their morphology, life cycles, and much more. This is a book for anyone with an interest in seashells. There is information on the bewildering array of shell types, shapes, sizes, colors, and describes where different types can be found throughout the world. Both informative and visually arresting, this will appeal to amatuers and experts alike, children and adults, collector and casual beachcomber.
