Author Biography
Gwen Lawrence, author of Body Sculpting for Yoga, and a GAIAM yogi model and instructor has been a practicing fitness professional since 1990. Her current practice includes private yoga training for professional athletes, celebrities, America's military and class instruction that provide her military-specific, sport-specific Power Yoga for Sports training program, and her VYX(TM) (Vinyasa Yoga Extreme) system. Gwen is the yoga instructor for several New York Yankees baseball players, team yoga instructor for the New York Giants and New York Knicks, and many youth teams in a variety of sports. Her writing appears in Men's Health, Women's Health, Fitness, Shape, and Yoga Journal. She makes regular appearances on NBC TODAY Show, Good Day NY and many TV news/national radio shows. Gwen also owns her own Yoga Studio and Yoga School where she trains people to teach the power yoga for sports system. She was named to 2010 Westchester's Best list and featured in ESPN Magazine at the "Best Innovation in Sports Medicine." Nick Benas, U.S.M.C., is a former United States Marine Sergeant and Iraqi Combat Veteran. Nick is the Director of Business Operations for Clatsop Behavioral Healthcare, a private non-profit mental health agency, located on the Columbia River in Astoria, Oregon. He is also a Certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor, by the National Council of Mental Health, teaching Adults, Youth and Veteran modules. He travels around the United States training individuals on how to recognize a developing mental illness and how to prevent someone from slipping into a crisis. He has been featured by more than 50 Major media outlets for his business success and entrepreneurship, including Entrepreneur Magazine, Men's Health, ABC, FOX, ESPN, and CNBC. Stewart "Stew" Smith is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, a former Navy SEAL, and author of several fitness books such as The Complete Guide to Navy SEAL Fitness, The Special Ops Workout, and S.W.A.T. Fitness. Stew has trained thousands of students for Navy SEAL, Special Forces, SWAT, FBI, ERT, and many other military, law enforcement, and fire fighter professions. He is currently the Special Ops Team Coach at the US Naval Academy that prepares future candidates for SEAL, EOD, and MARSOC training and runs a non-profit called Heroes of Tomorrow where he trains people seeking tactical professions for free. He has recently appeared on National Geographic's Fight Science - Special Ops where he was subjected to a hypothermic test and combat shooting course.
