Description

The aim of this book is to provide a background and guide to the production of grapes and wines especially in the cooler regions. Its scope is considerable, covering the geographical description and growing of grapes, the making of wine and its subsequent evaluation - with clear text and diagrams concerning site and variety selection, planting, establishment, pruning and training, pests and diseases, climate requirements, soil management, etc. In concentrating on cooler climates it acknowledges the increasing interest in growing grapes and wine in the cooler parts of Australia and the South Island of New Zealand.
