Description
An accessible and authoritative introduction to Plate Tectonics for adult readers Part of the new Ladybird Expert series, Plate Tectonics is an accessible and authoritative introduction to what really goes on under the ground beneath our feet. Written by the celebrated geologist, lecturer and scientific presenter Iain Stewart, Plate Tectonics explores the Earth's building blocks and the geophysical theory that changed the way we look at the world. You'll learn about the puzzle pieces that make up the Earth today, monsoon-like currents in our planet's radioactive core, magnetic force lines and how the ocean would look without water.
Author Biography
Iain is a geology professor at the University of Plymouth and Director of its Sustainable Earth Institute. He studies earthquakes, volcanism, and tsunamis, and is interested in communicating Earth science to anyone who will listen. As part of that 'public geoscience' he presents documentaries about the planet for BBC television, including Earth- The Power of the Planet; Earth- The Climate Wars, How Earth Made Us, How To Grow A Planet, The Rise of the Continents and Planet Oil.
ReviewsThe artwork is gloriously retro, echoing the original Ladybird house style but containing completely up to date information. * Shiny New Books *
