Description
Guide d'identification des arbres du Mali is the result of over ten years research in collaboration with Kew's Millennium Seed Bank Project. Over 300 woody plant species are described in the book, with accompanying keys, colour photographs, distribution maps and local names and uses. This book is an essential reference for anyone required to know and recognize the woody flora of the forests of Mali, including forestry technicians, agriculturists, conservation workers, farmers, botanists, teachers and students.Text in French.
Author Biography
Moctar Sacande is a seed physiologist and amateur botanist, specialising in the biology of tropical African species. He has published extensively on the subject and has managed several international research projects on these species. He is co-editor of Comparative Storage Biology of Tropical Tree Seeds (International Plant Genetics Resource Institute, 2004) and is involved in research collaborations in several African countries. Sidi Sanogo is one of the few botanists with a long and consistent experience on the flora of Mali. He has been involved in botanical expeditions since the 990s and was instrumental in the creation of the Forestry Seeds Unit at the Mali Herbarium, now recognised internationally as the National Herbarium of the Institute of Rural Economy. Henk Beentje is a botanist with a substantial knowledge and experience of the African flora. He is an expert on Compositae and is the editor of Flora of Tropical East Africa. He is author of The Kew Plant Glossary (Kew Publishing, 2010) and co-author of Field Guide to the Mangrove Trees of Africa and Madagascar (Kew Publishing, 2007).
