Description
An exploration of the issue of domestic violence and health and an exploration of how women feel about their encounters with healthcare professionals. It raises a number of issues for professionals concerned with both policy implementation and practice. These issues include: the differentiation between physical and non-physical injuries; explanations of the causes of domestic violence proffered by both participant groups; an examination of the perceptions held by health care professionals in relation to women who present with domestic violence-related injuries; the uses and abuses of the medical record within the wider context of documentation and confidentiality; and the impact of wider help-seeking and multi-agency collaborations.
