Description

Air Force Special Operations Command are the most secretive and anonymous of the US Armed Forces. Specialising in supply, insertion, and support they frequently arrive at combat zones before SEALS and Army Rangers, and arrive with attitude: to do what they have to do, whatever the mission, often being the unsung heroes of critical covert operations. A rare look inside a force that prizes it's anonymity, this book traces the history of this elite unit from it's founding to the present day, covering training, new squadrons established to combat the threat of terrorism, and includes the arsenal of weapons and equipment, the sophisticated gunships and helicopters such as the MH-53 Pave Low. Fred J Pushies spent sixteen years in various units os SOCOM, and writes with authority from an insiders perspective. There is bound to be great interest in this title, as special operations continue to make the news.

Author Biography

Fred J. Pushies has spent the last 16 years in the company of each of the units assigned to United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM). He has skimmed across the waves with the SEALs in an eighty-two foot long Mark V Special Operations craft, flown at treetop level with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, and crunched through the brush with Force Recon Marines. His integrity and insight are evident in his previous works, "Special Ops: America's Elite Forces in 21st Century Combat, U.S. Air Force Special Ops, U.S. Army Special Forces, Marine Force Recon, "and "Weapons of the U.S. Navy SEALs."
