Description

"Europe" is one of the defining issues of out times. Politically, economically, legally and culturally, it is a source of division to some and inspiration for others. This text contains essays written to celebrate the centenary of the British Academy, one of the country's leading academic institutions for social sciences and the humanities. The central theme is "Britain's contribution to the Europe of the 21st century" and it is approached in an interdisciplinary way from the different angles of law, politics, economics and the humantities.

Reviews

The extremely eminent authors of the papers in this volume include not only outstanding scholars, but also those who have been in the highest positions in government and the legal system. This volume is likely to have a broad readership among those interested in the development of Europe. It seems likely that the legal material will be read by academic scholars and will be cited. The book is well produced and should be considered by academic libraries; it may well find its way into many multi-disciplinary libraries as well as law libraries. -- Jules Winterton * International Journal of Legal Information *
