Description

Under the auspices of the American Museum of Natural History, Theodore Roosevelt headed a 1913-14 expedition to a remote area of the Brazilian Amazon basin. His crew constituted the first non-indigenous explorers of the 1,000-mile long "River of Doubt," where they collected numerous plant and animal specimens. Roosevelt's narrative crackles with energy and enthusiasm as he recounts the adventure's many challenges and dangers.
