Description

Originally published anonymously, the pamphlet called Common Sense sparked a powerful response. Extolling the philosophy of self-determination, democracy and liberty, Thomas Paine's defence of American secession was a radical and inflammatory statement. Finding supporters on both sides of the Atlantic, Paine's defence of egalitarian principles nonetheless generated its fair share of enemies. Unapologetic, immensely persuasive andclearly written, the words of the world's first international revolutionary continue to offer valuable insights into the world we live in today.
