This book examines the key factors which can lead to poor quality of life, homelessness and reduced mortality. It will enable researchers, front-line workers, managers, service commissioners and politicians to identify and employ the most appropriate health, social and economic interventions to support those at the edge of the community.

Adrian Bonner is an honorary professor at the University of Stirling, and a consultant in community-based research for The Salvation Army. He was formerly Director of the Addictive Behaviour Group, in the Centre for Health Service Studies, University of Kent. His primary research interests in alcohol, nutrition and brain damage underpin work on policy development and interdisciplinary research into health inequalities and local political strategies.
