Description
Most of us would like to know the Greek myths better than we do, and in this book Cambridge academic and BBC presenter Nigel Spivey re-tells the Greek myths as the spellbinding stories they are. In exciting prose he tells of Jason and the Argonauts and the travels of Odysseus, of Oedipus's crime and Orpheus's excursion into the underworld among many more.
Author Biography
Nigel Spivey teaches Classical Archaeology at Cambridge University, where he is also a Fellow of Emmanuel College. Among his other books are Enduring Creation (2001) and The Ancient Olympics (2004). His work for television includes the BBC2 series, How Art Changed the World.
Reviews"'These are not the Greek myths you remember from school... Spivey's racy retelling is a heroic feat in itself, suggesting that the Songs of Orpheus are no less juicy than a season of The Sopranos.' New York Times Book Review"
