Description
Della Wright was sexually abused between the ages of 6 and 11 by her mother's boyfriend. She was failed time and again by the care sector, her own parents, and eventually the CPS. Della eventually managed to put her childhood abuser behind bars, after a lifetime of violent relationships and severe mental health problems - but it took two separate reports to the police, ten years apart, to get there. Della first went to the police in 2007 but a decade passed without anything happening, during which her abuser changed his name multiple times to evade detection for his many crimes. In 2017 he was jailed for 22 years for Della's sexual abuse. Della is in the process of officially becoming an ambassador for the Safeguarding Alliance, who want to help ensure offenders cannot slip through the net by giving themselves new identities.
