Author Biography

Jen Arena is lucky to have been surrounded by great children's books her whole life. As a teenager, she worked at a children's only independent bookshop in Pennsylvania, and after graduating from college she made her way to New York City, where she found a job in children's book publishing. Since then she's written many books for kids (most under her maiden name Jennifer Dussling). Jen lives on Long Island with her Argentinean husband Dario. Dario ended phone conversations with his family wuth the words 'besos muchos besos,' which sparked the idea for Besos for Baby. Blanca Gomez is an illustrator and graphic designer living in Madrid, Spain. Simple things inspire her and her work, which has been described as clean, whimsical, and yes, simple. She works on a range of different projects for clients around the world, including Monocle, Marks & Spencer, Chronicle Books and Urban Outfitters, but she especially enjoys illustrating books for young readers. Besos for Baby is her third illustrated book, and the first one to be published in th United States.

Reviews

Praise for Besos for Baby: A Texas Library Association 2x2 Reading List Selection Each two-page spread features a bouncy rhyme in English followed by the perky Spanish refrain. Gomez's cute and blocky illustrations in cheery colors clearly depict each character, and a picture glossary at the end defines each Spanish word. Little ones will be delighted by the happy faces and affectionate world little bebe explores.--Booklist
