Description

The loss of a child can be devastating to parents. In the aftermath of this tragedy, oftentimes the siblings who lose their brother or sister can be, unknowingly and unintentionally overlooked. Their grief is just as real, albeit different, as that of the parents. Unfortunately, many children don't have the words to put to what they are feeling inside and seldom do they have someone to process that grief with. The resources available to help a sibling navigate the loss of a brother or sister are scarce. Hope Unshakeable for Kids helps fill that void by providing a biblically based, illustrated, full color, activity workbook that helps a child navigate his or her grief journey after the death of a brother or sister. Through thoughtful and carefully planned out activities and readings, siblings are able to navigate some of the emotions and feelings they experience in wake of the death of their brother or sister. The workbook parallels the parents' edition of Hope Unshakeable in such a way that they can process together what they are learning. It gives parents a way to talk with their son/daughter about the feelings they are experiencing as they miss their sibling who has passed. Each chapter includes a sibling loss story written by other kids, a short lesson/devotional, and three activities that will help them process their own loss. The different principles that the are built around provide tools to move forward in a healthy way. The middle chapter takes a pause from the stories and activities in order to give the child a chance to share their own story of loss, empowering them to be able to confidently and coherently share with others. As a child develops, he/she will have to process their sibling loss at every developmental stage. Hope Unshakeable for Kids can be revisited in the years to come in order to allow these siblings to continue to move forward in a healthy way. Loss can be an isolating experience for anyone. While parents oftentimes have each other or another adult that they can process their grief with, the death of a brother or sister can leave a child feeling alone as well. It does not have to be this way. Hope Unshakeable for Kids helps them know that they are not alone! Together Hope Happens!
