Description

In a world of endless colors, sizes and shapes it's easy to get a little dizzy. But can there ever be order amid the chaos? Join one little girl on her journey to find out just what makes the world a beautiful place to be in. When Frankie begins sorting out her toy box, she decides not to stop there. She organizes her bedroom, her classroom, even the bathroom. Perhaps people can be organized too? But how? Frankie quickly realizes that the variety and diversity of life on Earth is perhaps what makes it the most beautiful of all.

Author Biography

Pippa Goodhart grew up in Grantchester, UK, and has published over 90 books in her career. She is best known for her picture book You Choose and the Winnie the Witch storybooks. Pippa has been longlisted for the Kate Greenaway Award, won the 2011 Mumsnet Children's Book of the Year for 3-4 Year Olds and was shortlisted for the Young Telegraph Book of the Year award. Emily Rand is an illustrator of six children's books from the United Kingdom. Her inspirations come from real life--whether it is a busy city full of people, a peaceful garden, or a colorful coral reef. Specializing in a limited color palette, she is inspired by vintage children's books from the mid-20th century. The illustrations for her first book, A Dog Day, were selected for the Bologna Children's Book Fair exhibition in 2012. Emily has a background working in arts education, schools, and galleries. She currently runs workshops for children and adults about book making and illustration.

Reviews

A tender and smart story celebrating the beauty of being unique, while reminding us that we are all part of the same wonderful muddle. * Francesca Sanna, Award-winning creator of The Journey * The illustrations by Emily Rand are what my children's book dreams are made of, with bright bold pages packed with detail. This is definitely a book to pause and point out all the colorful objects with young readers * Mutually Inclusive Books * Delightful illustrations that you'll want to look at over and over! * Lizzy Stewart, award-winning creator of There's a Tiger in the Garden * Pippa Goodhart writes great picture books & Emily Rand's illustrations are fab. * @CazApr1 on Twitter * The straightforward narrative of Pippa Goodhart and Emily Rand's exuberant illustrations make All Sorts a joyful acclamation of individual uniqueness & a celebration of differences. * Jill Bennett, Red Reading Hub * Whilst Pippa Goodhart and Emily Rand celebrate one child's uniqueness, this is more than that. Frankie discovers that her world is far richer because of the vibrant, complex mosaic of race & culture around her in which each piece is as vital as the next. * @Mat_at_Brookes on Twitter * A cracker of a book for EYFS and even KS1 that will allow teachers and children to explore key themes in maths. There is so much discussion you can generate about ordering and counting, about shapes and sorting that you could use pages as open ended questions. * The Great British Bookworm * Wonderful for EYFS maths and great for learning about what makes us unique and recognising similarities & differences with others. * @Livvly on Twitter *
