ReviewsFind out in this charming book that combines a wonderful repeating rhyme pattern with some lovely illustrations. The Book Bag You can't beat a ride on a bus Sunday Express Beautifully illustrated ... children can delight in their favourite mode of transport Yours Exuberant exploration of the joy of transport. Metro Rosen's finely honed verse, a paean to the collective fun of riding a bus, also captures children's delight at anything with wheels and different ways of getting about. From the straightforward realism of "I really like to ride my bike" or "I like to float in a little boat" to pleasing flights of fancy such as "Sometimes I wish I could ride on a fish" and "If I was allowed I'd sit on a cloud", Tyler's softly coloured illustrations bring Rosen's words to life. The rousing refrain is perfect for all to join in. (2+) -- Julia Ecceshare The Guardian The book, like the bus, is for everyone. -- Kate Kellaway The Observer Gillian Tyler's illustrations are sweet and inclusive, adding a traditional tone and warmth to the offering. -- Books for Keeps Books for Keeps From all the opinions, the communal mode of transport is favoured and seems to set off on the end paper on its own magical journey. Tyler's illustrations bring Rosen's rhythmic rhymes to life. The School Librarian Deceptively simple, this book taps in perfectly to young children's interests, through fun rhyming text and soft, soothing illustrations. There is a great refrain for children to join in ('But the best is the bus. The bus is for us') and plenty to explore and discuss. The Bookseller Simple words, big pictures - any 2-3 year old would love it. Newbury Weekly News
