Kaye Umansky is best known as the creator of Pongwiffy. She has worked as a music and drama teacher, a singer and keyboard player, and as an actress, but is now a full-time writer. She lives in north London.

It is a brilliant book because it has an animal cast that conveniently deflects the emotional focus and, at the same time, allows it to be anything but delicate. The Observer
