Description

Age range 4 to 7 Five friends are feeling bored on a hot sticky day. Just when they think they'll never find anything fun to play, a simple gust of wind changes everything... 'Dannika Patterson, has captured my heart's delight. Jacaranda Magic is magic by title, and magic by words, with Dannika's wordsmithing weaving a tale of rhyme and rhythm that will have you diving into the pages of imagination, making you long for the days of fresh purple snow...Illustrator Megan Forward has gifted the words with illustrations that bring the children's imaginations to life, filling the pages with potions of purple, with action bouncing off each of the pages, except when the children are bored - and everyone knows what bored looks like. I highly recommend Jacaranda Magic.' - Books, Tea and Cupcakes 'A joyful example of overcoming boredom that encapsulates the capacity of nature to inspire, educate and entertain, Jacaranda Magic harnesses the essence of friendship and the pooling of imaginative resources in a time when it's easier for many of today's youth to simply swipe away boredom.' - Boomerang Books 'A potentially empty summer's day fills with adventure and discovery as the children explore their physical world. Recommended for pre- and early-schoolers.' - Aussie Reviews 'The author says that this is a book "for children with bare feet and wild imaginations" but its magic goes much further. It's a joy for the reader to share with small children too...The illustrations are soft watercolours and the beauty of both the colour and shape of the jacaranda flowers has been done justice.' - Bug in a Book 'With simple rhyming pairs of lines, Patterson has created a charming storyline, one which will entice readers to predict the rhyme as they listen to the story...Using the purple flowers as a trigger for the children's imaginations is sure to focus younger readers on the beauty that surrounds them, encouraging them to take a moment to look at things more closely.' - Highly Recommended review from Read Plus
