Description

In this brilliant follow up to the Caldecott Honour-winning They All Saw a Cat, bestselling author Brendan Wenzel presents a chain of animals of dazzling variety. Each one is different from the last, yet each is also linked by at least one common trait: some obvious, some more subtle. As colours and patterns mix and mingle, and as paws and snouts meet, each unexpected encounter celebrates the magnificent diversity of our world - and ultimately paints a story of connection. Joyous, rhythmic text and Wenzel's exuberant art encourage readers of all kinds to delight in nature's infinite differences, and to look for - and marvel at - its gorgeous similarities. It all starts with a simple 'Hello.'

Reviews

"Minimal text and an underlying ecological message characterise this stunning picture book. Illustrated in a colourful collage style, it celebrates the diversity and beauty of the natural world with great humour." -- BookTrust's Great Books Guide 2018 "From the author of the award-winning They All Saw a Cat, Brendan Wenzel, Hello Hello starts with a couple of cats and continues on through a chain of beautifully illustrated creatures, all linked by at least one common trait - from simple colours and shapes to more complex and abstract associations." -- Teach Early Years "This beautifully illustrated book really draws attention to the plight of endangered species, with a picture glossary at the back, naming all the animals who appear in the book, and giving their conservation status. A superb book." Parents in Touch "I really love books like this; ones that can be enjoyed on a number of levels depending on the age and stage of a child, or how involved they become with the subject matter. [...] As the author notes, many children and many adults for that matter, will be unaware that some of these animals even exist. Yet, the more people who know about these animals, the better chance they will have to survive and thrive. So what can we do? The author recommends we head to the library or to the internet to find out more about them and the habitats and environments they live in, and that also need protecting, ultimately from 'us'. Once children have found out about these animals and their habitats why not find a way to share that information, locally or even globally. It starts, as the author suggests, with saying 'hello'." Early Years Educator "I was blown away by the sheer creativity on display in this amazing new animal book. With stunning illustrations which take centre stage throughout, this book will introduce young children to the huge diversity of animals we have in our world and encourage them to celebrate and get to know them by saying "Hello!" With minimal, but engaging, text and very colourful double page spreads, this will be a book to treasure for many years to come." Carousel "A diverse range of animals, all linked by at least one common trait #HelloHello by @BRENDAN_WENZEL is a complete triumph! It invites the reader to celebrate nature's differences and marvel at its similarities" Picture Books Blogger "Brendan Wenzel's delightful "Hello Hello" is a fabulously colourful animal book designed to wow your tinies, introducing them to many species and creatures they may have never seen before.
