Reviews

We stumbled across Story Time for Lamb by Michael Dahl at our local library. It's a cardboard book with bright colors and a big eyed sheep on the front cover reading a book. After a quick glance on the back cover we learned that the book promotes early concepts, animal recognition, speaking skills and....wait where's Toddler Mojo? You don't have time to pick up a book and review it when you're at the library with a toddler. By the time I had started reading the back cover of Story Time for Lamb Toddler Mojo had started to run across the library laughing hysterically. A library is not a place for a noisy toddler, so we took our new book and went home. It took Toddler Mojo a while to warm up to Story Time for Lamb, but after a couple days it's his go-to book. After breakfast he looks for the book. Before his afternoon nap he wants to look at the book. We don't mind it being his new favorite book because it is really, really cute. There aren't many words, but they all rhyme nicely and have a good flow to entertain toddler ears. It's the pictures that make Toddler Mojo seek out the book and demand that we read it cover to cover though. The artwork is done by Oriol Vidal and is big, clear and sharp. Every two pages have a bright back color with the parent sheep and lamb going through the various stages of getting ready for bed. By the end of the book the little lamb snuggles up in bed and falls asleep. For adults the book is infections, cute and you won't mind reading it to your child. I would be remiss by not mentioning that the book reminds me of Shaun the Sheep, which is one reason why I don't mind reading it over and over. There are other books that Dahl has done with one of the super cute titles being Snack Time for Cow. Daddy Mojo loves to read. Toddler Mojo likes to read. We like to read different things for different reasons and all books that are geared for toddlers are not created equal. Some of them barely hold a toddler's attention and some of them can't be pried from his jelly and chalk marked hands. At Daddy Mojo's books for the Toddler we'll take a look at books that a toddler wants to read, sometimes too much. http: //www.daddymojo.net/2011/06/daddy-mojo%E2%80%99s-books-for-the-toddler-story-time-for-lamb/-- "Daddy Mojo blog"
