Description
The charmingly oblivious Little Jumbo "saves the day" in this companion to How to Cheer Up Dad Being a superhero isn't easy, especially when your heroic deeds go unappreciated. All Little Jumbo wants to do is fight crime (by stopping his dad from sneaking extra helpings of cookies) and defend the weak (by halting pedestrian traffic until a snail family safely crosses the road). Luckily, Little Jumbo doesn't give up easily. He even powerfully resists cake (Little Jumbo's greatest weakness!) to help a new friend in need!
Author Biography
Fred Koehler works in advertising but has always wanted to illustrate children's books. He lives in a small town in Florida, where he loves sailing, camping, and exploring the great outdoors with his kids.
Reviews"Koehler's artwork continues to impress: his thick black outlines give his characters a reassuring emotional groundedness, and he finds the comic sweet spot in each composition." --Publishers Weekly "Very funny...Pair with Ed Vere's Max the Brave (2015) for another tale about a sweetly bumbling, well-meaning little hero." --Booklist "Koehler's chunky, bold lines and varying perspectives are comical and lively, while the simple text offers several moments of nicely silly contrasts between the elephantine wannabe superhero's intentions and his results...Broadly entertaining." --Kirkus Reviews "This heartwarming story is full of humor...A terrific purchase for storytime collections." --School Library Journal "Koehler's illustrations...are as endearing as they are funny...This would also be a "super" choice for superhero- or elephant-themed storytimes, and a pleasing counterpart to Beaty's Doctor Ted." -- BCCB
