Description

The Cheyenne Pool was a combine of cattlemen, founded when Southeastern Colorado was virtually a wilderness with miles of unfenced open range. Times changed, however, and the grasshungry small ranchers began to look enviously on the vast lands that the Pool held without any legal claim. Lacking the organization necessary to confront the well-established Pool, the newcomers grew frustrated and some of the greedier men started raiding the Pools stock. For their part, the Pool members realized that they would soon have to surrender their land. But their hard-driving foreman, Dan Foxworthy, was not about to give up to cattle thieves. His determination brought about a violent showdown, the murder of two men, and the recognition within himself that he, too, would have to change with the times. Action and suspense are the keynotes in this novel about the classic confrontation of haves and have-nots in the old West.
