Description

Lowly drug lieutenant Harold Jenks finds a murdered grad student down an alley, but instead of investigating the crime he steals the dead student's identity. Now Jenks is cruising the halls of academia as Eastern Oklahoma's newest grad student looking for some action and hoping he can stay ahead of his violent past. Across campus a Professor has a dead co-ed in his bed. Prof. Morgan is no killer but doesn't fancy persuading the authorities of that. Victor Gischler lives in Skiatook, Oklahoma among the scorpions and the cowpokes. He teaches creative writing at Rogers State University. His crime-writing heroes are Scott Phillips, James Crumley, and John D. MacDonald. Warren Zevon, Abba and Frank Sinatra make his toe tap. Boy bands and most other pop make him reach for his Webley revolver (and/or his double-barrel shotgun). Victor's first novel, Gun Monkeys, was nominated for the Edgar Award.
