Description

Petty Crimes & Head Cases is a fast-paced, cozy mystery about a hairdresser who helps her policeman husband solve crimes more astonishing than murder. Millennial Tracy Lemon owns the Citrus Salon, a popular hairdressing salon in a small western city. While her clients chat, they get their hair cut, rolled, permed, dyed, or saved by a Portuguese Pump Up. As Tracy pieces the clues together, she discovers who killed the cat in the suitcase, who's cooking meth in a basement, who robbed the gas station in a Spiderman mask, and why the prime candidate for Ms. Cowgirl got run over by a train. Told with warmth and humor as well as suspense, and populated by a set of quirky characters, Petty Crimes & Head Cases entertains while conveying the humanity in today's cops who have difficult bosses, tender family ties, and a deep sense of moral justice. Like female detective stories? This series provides a new twist on the genre. "Stealing a cabin. That's one I haven't heard before. And the emotional punch of husband Carl being involved in a racial shooting had me hurting for him and Tracy." - Rose WachowskiHairdresser Tracy Lemon lives with her policeman husband Carl and eight-year-old son Jamie in the same town where they grew up. When Carl applies for a promotion to become detective, Tracy suggests a way to impress the town's cantankerous chief of police-she'll help Carl solve more crimes than the other job candidates. Carl scoffs at the idea, so Tracy issues a challenge-she will solve the next crime in town before he does. At first she's no match for Carl who can use the resources of law enforcement. But when Tracy prevents a suicide, Carl takes notice. Together they confront their community's most pressing social issues-prescription drug abuse, insurance fraud, identity theft, and police brutality. Then husband Carl kills a Native American in the line of duty and is accused of racial profiling. That's when Tracy's investigative skills are stretched to the max.

Author Biography

At the turn of the millennium, Lola Beatlebrox changed her hair color. Since then she's logged more than 500 hours in the hairdresser's chair reading news stories that cause her to marvel at the folly of mankind. That, coupled with a keen sense of American social issues, inspired her to create the character of Tracy Lemon, a hairdresser who solves crimes for her policeman husband. She lives on a ranch near Park City, Utah, with her husband, two dogs, two cats, and four llamas. Follow her blog at www.lolabeatlebrox.com and on Instagram #lolabeatlebrox
