Description

Award-winning poet Adam Sol's fourth collection is a meditation on complicity. By turns intimate and lyrical, experimental and outlandish, the collection focuses on how we cannot escape the troubling structures that determine our lives. Sol addresses gender politics, the value of art, capitalism and more within poems that are funny, off-kilter and sonically rich.

Reviews

Praise for previous works by Adam Sol: * "The more you slow down in reading these subtle and surprising poems, the more they reveal. . . breathtaking in its insight into the ragged and beautiful condition of the world." -- Trillium Award jury citation * "These wonderful poems don't sound like anyone else on the scene. Jaunty and wise, jazz-driven and meditative, youthful with an old seeing and artful singing at the core, they journey to what matters in this world. Sol is a superb virtuoso whose range is unique. Listen to these sounds and ready for the transcending moments, for the changes that count." -- Yusef Komunyakaa * "For all their wise-ass charm, the stance of these poems is ultimately one of awe. Few young poets possess the verve of Adam Sol -- and fewer still his sly integrity." -- David Wojahn * "Even the most "personal" poems . . . matter in a large way: Sol's talent as a storyteller and poet make it happen." -- Geist
