Author Biography

Born to a family of artists and writers in 1950s China, Qu Lei Lei came to England from Beijing in 1985. Introduced to Chinese calligraphy in early childhood, he has practised calligraphy and painting for the last forty years, and now lives and works in London as a traditional and contemporary artist. Lei Lei has been teaching and lecturing in Chinese art for several years. He is a guest lecturer at the British Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Ruskin School of Art, and Christie's and Sotheby's auction houses. In 2000 he was awarded the Millennium Adult Tutor Award for Great Britain. Lei Lei regularly exhibits his calligraphy and paintings both in the UK and internationally. Recent exhibitions have taken place in Paris, Geneva, Spain, Singapore, Tokyo and Venice.
