Reviews

Oct 12 If you're after a quick knit fix, then make sure you get hold of a copy of this fab new book. It has 20 brilliant ideas for adding a fresh twist to your footwear. They're all quick and easy to knit, so are ideal for gifts, and are the perfect way to use up the leftover balls of yarn in your stash. * Knit Today * Xmas 2012 It can be hard to come up with new ideas for stocking fillers every year, especially ones to please the whole family. However, you won't go far wrong with a pair of knitted boot cuffs, and this book is packed with great designs for men, women and children. They're a great way to give boots or wellies instant appeal and the patterns inside are all really simple, so even complete beginners can have a go. As boot cuffs are so small, you'll be able to knit up loads in a hurry, leaving you plenty of time for your other festive activities. * Knit Today * Sept 12 I ordered this book on a whim and have been pleasantly pleased with it. There are designs for kids, stylish ones for adults and then some quirky ones. Most are knitted in chunky or aran but that just make them warmer.-"Debs", Amazon customer * Customer * Jan 13 We all need some extra warmth in winter and we'll be bang on trend with these up-to-the-minute ankle warmers. There are designs for 20 pairs and almost all the Fair Isle pattern charts can be transposed for machine knitting. They make great gifts and are so simple even beginners can have a go. * Machine Knitting Monthly * Feb 13 If you enjoyed making Susie Johns Knitted Beanies (also reviewed on this site), why not dress up your boots? In this slim volume there are twenty patterns for the currently fashionable toppers to keep your legs cozy this winter. There are cuffs for men, women and children in here and something to please everybody. Choose from plain but practical or those with hearts, flowers, pigs, penguins, ducks, plaid or stripes. The author is an Art Deco fan so there is more than one Clarice Cliff inspired pattern, one with boucle yarn and my own favorite, the festival-inspired Rasta Jester. It helpfully always says if a pattern is suitable for the more experienced knitter, and mostly I would pitch this book at improver level. Each page spread has a full-page photo of the item one side and the pattern on the other, telling you also what needles and yarn you need and sometimes with a graph too. As with all the knitting books in this series this is not the place to learn to knit, but these patterns grow fast and make great projects to build confidence. * Myshelf.com * Feb 13 Whether you call them cuffs, hugs, toppers or covers here are "Twenty to Make, Knitted Boot Cuffs" by Monica Russel. This is the winter season's new trend. Now you can knit your own. They are quick to knit, a stash buster and fashion forward. Have fun with the 20 patterns for your Wellies, hiking or short fashion boots. * www.examiner.com *
