Description

Silk paper is an exciting technique that is becoming ever more popular with textile artists. The process consists of taking silk fibres(which are readily available) and felting them together to make sheets of fabric. The result is a strong but delicate fabric which can be either thick and solid or almost transparently thin. This fabric can be used for a wide range of products - from scarves and jewellery to wall hangings and embellishments for skirts and blouses. The process is cheap, easy to do, non-hazardous, doesn't require much space or equipment, and the results can be very beautiful. This is an exciting process which textile artists can add to their repertoire.
