Description

The first three volumes in the TCG Oral History Project, Preserving the Legacy series, tells the story of the American not-for-profit theatre movement over the past 50 years through the eyes of some of its most noted practitioners. Each of the nine individuals served as the President of the board of directors of TCG, the national organization for theatre, during the past 40 years; and their stories become a microcosm of the field itself. As theatre in the U.S. moves further into the 21st century, it becomes increasingly urgent to document and celebrate the accomplishments and artistry of our past. These interviews offer insights into what it means to create a life in the theatre: their first encounter with theatre, their early careers, their heroes, the role of the artist and the future of theatre. This series provides rare access for the future generations to the legacy of the theatre movement in America. DVD features: Interviews are searchable by index topics. Complete interview transcripts can be downloaded and printed from a computer.
