Description

A duo of high-profile tastemakers invites readers inside fifteen homes that are infused with the blend of vintage-contemporary style that is the essence of Parisian chic. Style icon Ines de la Fressange and globetrotting dilettante Marin Montagut share a uniquely Parisian sensibility for interiors that combine a variety of design traditions into a harmonious living space. The authors take readers inside fifteen Parisian apartments-including their own- that demonstrate how to imbue a home with a sense of well-being through a mix of vintage and contemporary styles. Each owner is passionate about home decor-whether in a studio, loft, or duplex-and they continually evolve their interior with new treasures uncovered in flea markets, on their travels, at design fairs, or in artisanal workshops. Natural materials-wood, wicker, bamboo, cotton, and linen-create warmth and personality. Vintage suitcases, vegetable crates, and jewel- toned pharmaceutical jars transform into charming storage containers. Embroidered cushions, terrariums, and fresh flowers enliven a room with pops of color. Collages, original art, or humble objects displayed in a series add a signature style to each residence. With extensive photographs, watercolor illustrations, and practical advice on the indispensable objects that incarnate each maison , this exquisite volume is rich in inspiration for creating Parisian chic at home.

Reviews

"We absolutely love this book!! Every once in a while a book arrives that makes you want to stop what you are doing and just immerse yourself in it, and this is one of those books. We love everything about it... This is one of our Top 10 favorite books this year." -Hot Brands Cool Places "Step inside 15 chic Parisian apartments that demonstrate exactly how to imbue a home with a sense of sophisticated style." -Homes and Antiques Take a trip through the keyhole of the capital's most droolworthy homes in this sumptuous coffee table tome curated by model and designer Ines de Fressange and illustrator Marin Montagut. Part envy-inducing gallery, part how-to-guide, the book showcases fifteen unique residences across the city, highlighting the furniture and curios that make each one individual. The crowning glory is the 'Get the Look' section at the end of each chapter, emphasising how the reader doesn't need to spend a lot to recreate the Gallic look at home. Who knew old fruit crates, spools of thread or used paint palettes could have a second lease of life as ornaments?" -France Magazine "The authors have beautifully captured the essence of each home, taking the smallest of details and sharing the inspiration behind it...If you are looking for inspiration, whether you are a stylist, or want to create your own look for your home, this book is an absolute treasure!" -Styling Secrets "We all know that the French ahve a certain je ne said quoi with regards to fashion and food, but former Chanel muse Ines de la Fressange proves it also applies to their interiors in her new book, a stylish look at 15 rather envy-inducing Parisian homes. She and her co-author, Marin Montagut, show the French approach to electicism, dubbing it "neo-deco." It's all about a curated mix of vintage and new, luxe and simple, in a considered edit that is definitely more chic than shabby. Even better, it's full of do-able tips on how to recreate key looks from each home showcased. You'll be booking Eurostar tickets to head over to the Marches des Puces (Parisian fela markets) before you know it." -The Resident "The book features 15 stunningly beautiful Parisian homes, with each home owner showcasing how they implement a mix of design traditions to create very personal living spaces that are elegant, poetic and eclectic." -Home & Horizon "Maison: Parisian Chic at Home is the somewhat tautologous title of a delightful new book from the inspirational double-act of Ines de la Fres-sange, the paragon of Parisian chic, and Marin Montagut, the acclaimed watercolourist of the Bonjour map and city guides. The combination was sure to please, and they take us on a journey through 15 homes (including their own which adds a good deal of credibility to their endeavour) that evoke a new trend that is developing in the city...It is an inspira-tional journey and one that is sure to prompt you to see how you can take some of your treasured pieces and use them as the building blocks for a refreshing home rebrand." -Chic & Country "Fifteen Parisian apartments that eschew "decorated" for "lived in" are toured by Marin Montagut, a watercolorist, and Ines de la Fressange, author, model and creator of an eponymous French fashion and home-accessories brand." -The Wall Street Journal
