Description
What is the future of architecture? The architect from Turin Benedetto Camerana answers by examining his twenty years of career with projects built and designed, integrating them with the illustration of a contemporary vision of the landscape and the city. The volume is divided into four main sections, in which titles represent themes that outline the past and the idea of architecture, the urban context, the interior space and the landscape, topics discussed in roundtables with key figures in the sector. The pioneering approach in EnviPark, the first compound built in Europe following the principles of the most advanced environmental sustainability, and the creation of the Villaggio Olimpico Torino 2006 constitute the basis to narrate the features of an in-depth design method, based on innovative technologies and processes. Turin, a city-hotbed, has been the main field of experimentation for Benedetto Camerana, with operations including restoration and redesign of works involving cultural heritage, like the Church of Santa Maria Madre dei Giovani, and also centres of contemporary culture like the Juventus Museum and Camera Fondazione per la Fotografia, plus a series of important work buildings. Beauty, emotion and speed are the themes of works conceived for the most legendary Italian automobile brands, with the reinvention of the Museo Alfa Romeo in Milan - Arese, the renewal of the Museo Ferrari in Maranello and a series of installations of great experimentation. The volume ends with a broad overview of the international scene, with designs for some Chinese cities, the Hamburg port and some large Italian cities, relaunching the centrality of contemporary design and the search for new forms of environmental sustainability for our future.
