Author Biography

ART Debbie's art continues to evolve every day. Her first job was as a newspaper advertising layout artist which became a foundation for everything art related. Next, she moved on into the graphic design field, creating company logos and adding promotional material as part of the business package. Working for various printing companies added layers to her design skills, where she learned much along the way. At one location, a chance opportunity began an eight year stint using calligraphy to pen the names of students on their diplomas. This time frame also led to a new interest in promoting her fine art in a new way; drawing home portraits and people. An interest in murals for a non-profit led to many exterior painted works of art on garage and barn doors, and various walls on city buildings. A park kiosk, and a parking meter was painted for another non-profit. This also included a traveling art panel series throughout the city. Currently, her work is featured at a local baseball stadium, a service station, and a hospital. Over the last three years, her designs were chosen for an interesting project and Debbie painted six, 4ft. sculpted eagles that were then auctioned off as part of the Eagle Parade for Veterans Count, a program of Easter Seals. WRITING Opportunities for promoting art and writing for Deborah have continued with segments on public television, radio and in local schools. One story, began which began a four year weekly column of 'Human Interest' stories for a local newspaper. She then transitioned to an online publication with her story column, INSIGHTS. Each opportunity became more valuable when ideas, thoughts and inquisitive pursuits continued to be added to her creative well. This well accumulated moments of everyday living and thus over time became the key source to draw from when story-telling reached a new level and she wrote her first novel, TODAY is the DAY. TODAY is the DAY, is a story inspired by a military friend, set in a current day theme, It received a 2014 New England Book Festival Honorable Mention award. Writing has become another way that Deborah uses her creativity with an ongoing support for the military. PERIL on the HIGH SEAS - a two tail adventure, is a wordless children's book created from cut paper. The story is made up by the one opening up the book and letting the images speak to you. This received an Honorable Mention award at the 2015 New England Book Festival. FAITH ON FIRE is Deborah's Civil War era story and her latest self-published book. The story features her great-grandfather and family members who became a creative cast of characters such as actors would be playing a role on stage. THE 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS is soon to be a published children's book featuring a unique blend of quirky humor with her design choices of each of the twelve gifts. In between every layer of the art and writing Deborah has had another opportunity speak to her. She became a profile writer for the NH Farm Network. The task would be to visit an assigned farm, meet with the owners/managers, find their story, take photos, then wrap it all together in an engaging online story for the reader. This was an amazing opportunity to highlight the important and vital way of life many people live, day to day. Currently, she is working on her third novel, UNDER the BRIDGE, an action-packed Vietnam-era story with a Super Hero theme and IRON MAN, a children's book, who is Ironing Out the Evil Wrinkles of the World!
