Description

In this deeply personal, illustrated volume the highly influential, trend-setting New York based contemporary jewelry designer Pamela Love invites us into her universe, revealing her creative process through sharing the obsessions and inspirations behind her cult brand. Pamela Love began making jewelry in 2007 in a closet sized shared studio space in New York City's garment district. She quickly gained notoriety by winning a CFDA award and her collection was soon stocked by the chicest boutiques around the world. Loves creations are deeply spiritual and intuitive, she is heavily influenced by astronomy, astrology, alchemy, botany, the American Southwest, and the architecture of her own home, New York. In this personally curated monograph Pamela Love juxtaposes photographs of her jewelry, with snapshots from her travels that inspire her collections, images of her handmade inspiration board collages which show her creative process, as well as details of the diorama like installations of objects and ephemera in her lavishly decorated home --which is a work of art in itself. This enchanting volume will appeal to the legions of Pamela Love followers, those interested in contemporary jewelry as well as a wide demographic of all ages looking for bohemian fashion and lifestyle inspiration.

Reviews

"Pamela Love is one of my favorite jewelry designers. Not just because her designs are incredible, but because she cares so much about the sources behind her inspiration and the cultures connected to them as well. . . From North African patterns and Mexican folk art to medieval European iconography, Pamela draws inspiration from a wide range of sources. [Pamela Love: Muses and Manifestations] showcases those sources, alongside her many mood boards that she keeps in her NYC studio." -Design*Sponge "Today, Love is revealing the process behind her unique creations in a new book from Rizzoli. Titled Muses and Manifestations, it's part visual memoir and part intimate design journal. Yet of more importance to Love, it's a celebration of the near decade that she's been in business and a reflection of her personal journey . . . you'll see the breakdown of some of her most popular pieces, including the hammered arrowhead ring and the much-imitated, but never duplicated five-spike earrings, as well as her design sketches and archival photographs." -CR FASHION BOOK "[Pamela Love: Muses and Manifestations] provides an insider view into her award-winning designs. Photos and objects from Love's most memorable trips and her favorite Francesco Clemente paintings (for whom she formerly assisted) are paired with her most famous jewelry pieces- paying homage to the people, places and objects that inspire her." -CFDA.com
