The book is divided into three parts. The first helps identify types of building materials and features associated with the exterior of the house. The second part looks at a range of interior features associated with ceilings, walls and floors, as well as internal doors and windows features. The final part is devoted to sustainability and energy conservation, and discusses how period houses were designed to achieve high levels of what we would now call 'sustainability'.
