Description
Baking became a form of therapy for Julie when her mother, who taught her to bake, was diagnosed with dementia. They began baking together again, and Julie started her Instagram account as a way to document this precious time. Her devoted followers regularly send supportive messages and photos of their own bakes. Her effortless style and amazing skills encourage everyday bakers to aspire to go 'one step beyond' and create something beautiful and imaginative. Using natural and colourful ingredients, considered decoration, and beautiful pastry designs, Julie Jones provides ideas on how to make bakes that beg to be presented in a way that feeds your soul as well as your stomach. Across the 175+, heavily illustrated pages, you'll find chapters on: Fruit Tarts and Pies; Cakes, Bakes and Treats; Bread and Yeasted Dough; Chocolate; Desserts; Weekend Breakfast and Brunch.
Author Biography
Julie Jones learnt to cook from her mother. Never anything fancy but always packed with flavour, loaded with butter and made with love. She re-trained as a chef at the age of 30 and did a short stint at Heston Blumenthal's pub The Hinds Head and also The Fat Duck. Completely inspired, she realised how flavour could be taken to a whole new level. She has found her creative space on Instagram to be a form of therapy, and has discovered great warmth, support and a shared passion for food and baking from her 14.1k followers. Julie runs a successful supper club from home hosting weekly dinner parties. These are booked up until July 2017 purely through word-of-mouth recommendations. She has appeared on BBC TV's new daytime cooking contest programme Yes Chef, judged by Pierre Koffman. She lives in Carlisle in the north of England and has been told she's a 'TV natural'.
