Gemma Bowes is a freelance travel writer and editor. She worked on the travel desks at the Guardian Media Group for 13 years, including five years as the Guardian's Travel Editor. She then spent two years on The Times travel desk, and continues to freelance for numerous travel companies and publications, including The Times and The Sunday Times, the Guardian, the Observer, The i, the Telegraph, The Financial Times, Wanderlust, Family Traveller, and Conde Nast Traveler.
