Description
This work provides a photographic record of over 100 of Paris' historic interiors. The celebrated home of elegant salons, Paris has long fascinated the onlooker. From the opulent staircases of the Second Empire Opera, to the rational unyielding lines of Le Corbusier Villa Roche, this book uncovers the varying ages and styles. Each photograph is accompanied by a short text detailing what is of architectural or decorative interest as well as something of the history of the interior. Comprehensive information on buildings open to the public is provided.

Reviews'If interior design porn like Wallpaper rings your bells, those canny souls at Phaidon Press have come up with some seriously horny stuff for your coffee table this summer. They are releasing their draw-droppingly gorgeous Inside...series in luxury paperback.' (Attitude) 'A set of stunningly illustrated books celebrates the best of interior design through the ages. The Inside series does not contain any prehistoric art, but its beautiful photographs capture manmade interiors over 2000 years.' (Yorkshire Evening Press) 'Go get the book to go with your T-shirt.' (FX) 'This series throws back the covers to reveal Western interiors that have been languishing in the shadows...they capture the personality of each city.' (The Good Book Guide) 'The best of the three [Inside Paris, Phaidon, Mansions of Paris, Terrail, Interieurs Parisiens, Taschen], Inside Paris, concentrates on public spaces...There are just one or two photographs of each interior, and the quality is consistently superb. The choices are original: the Second-Empire marble staricase of the Italian Embassy, the late 19th century mosaics of Aux Cinq Poissons fishmongers, an art deco lavatory at the Madelaine. A thorough gazetteer adds a history, addresses and opening hours, if any.' (The Paris Free Voice)
