Description
Oregon running legend Steve Prefontaine held all seven American records between 2000 and 10,000 metres. Pre set his sights on international Olympic competition but unfortunately only came in fourth in the Munich games. He hoped to break the 3-minute mile world record and was strongly favoured for the Montreal Olympics in 1976. Tragically, he was killed in a car accident before realizing these dreams. He was 24.
