Description

Almost 800 Old Crosbeians served in World War I. Of these, 155 died as a direct result of the conflict and are commemorated on the War Memorial in what is now the School Library. This volume presents short biographies of each of these former pupils who lost their lives during the Great War.

Author Biography

A Yorkshireman by birth, Trevor Hildrey graduated BSc in physics from Manchester University in 1969. Following three years research in nuclear fission he began teaching at Merchant Taylors' School, Crosby in 1972. He eventually became Senior Master and retired from teaching in 2008. On retirement he became the school's archivist having for the previous thirty years collected archival material associated with the school.
