Father Philip Barnes was born and brought up in rural Worcestershire, and read Theology at Westminster College, Oxford and Heythrop College, London. He trained for the priesthood at St Stephen's House, Oxford. After a curacy at St Martin's, Ruislip, in the Diocese of London Philip served as Shrine Priest at the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham in Norfolk, with a particular responsibility for the liturgical life of the busy Shrine Church. He is now the vicar of St Edmund the King, Northwood Hills, in suburban north-west London.
