John Hawkins studied History at the University of Essex. He has worked as an editor since 1991 and as a freelance writer since 2000. He has written more than 30 books on a variety of topics, including the Romans, the Vikings, the Middle Ages, the Wall Street Crash, Nazi Germany, the Battle of Britain, the Arab-Israeli Conflict and a history of the world.
