Description

Emmanuel Levinas (1906-1995) was a leading philosopher and Talmudic commentator. He is widely considered to be one of the most important thinkers of the twentieth century. This book brings together fourteen pieces from a large body of uncollected essays. They are united by Levinas's project of revising the phenomenological description of the world in light of our experience of other persons. Appropriately Levinas pursues this project by discussing the work of others, of philosophers among his contemporaries who bring out and champion a thought that realizes and sustains the proximity of person to person.
