Description
A total of 15000 children under the age of 15 passed through Terezin camp between 1942-44. Less than 100 survived. In these poems and pictures drawn by the young inmates we see the daily misery of these uprooted children, as well as their courage and optimism, their hopes and fears.
Author Biography
Edited by HANA VOLVAKOV (1904-1985), who was the only curator of the Central Jewish Museum to survive World War II. The authors/artists of the poems, letters, and drawings in I Never Saw Another Butterfly were the children of Terezin Concentration Camp. A total of 15,000 children under the age of 15 lived in the camp. Only 100 came back.
