Author Biography

Colin Metcalfe is the Yorkshire Section Secretary of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club UK and runs the Alfasud Register for the Club, a post he has held since 2004. His fervour and sheer passion for the iconic little Alfasud remains the same now as when he bought a South African-built Export model as his first car as a teenager. He's owned and cherished a dozen or so saloons and Sprints ever since. During this time, he's made and met many like-minded friends and enthusiasts from all over the world and has become known as something of an authority on the model. He prefers not to imagine what the world would be like without an Alfasud (or two) in his life.

Reviews

If you're not familiar with the marque, then this brand-new slim A5 volume will give you a good idea of the particular things to look for when you're checking the car you'd like to buy.It also provides general introductory information on the Alfasud design, model range, history and usability, for those not yet sure whether a Sud is theirs sort of car, or which model would best suit them. There's also a good deal of general advice on used-car buying which is universally applicable, but around half of the the 60 odd pages is the all-important Sud-specific inspection-detail. It's certainly a great book for the intended market - and prospective buyers new to these cars. And it's really well produced too, with glossy paper, excellent print and many sharp full-colour photos. Plus a very readable style of writing. Recommended!- Alfa News. Taking on an Alfasud now is a challenged, albeit one with a highly rewarding drive at the end of it. Veloce has gone to marque expert Colin Metcalfe for its latest Essential Buyers Guide, and immersion in the world of the Alfasud - and the humour needed to go with owning them - comes through in an exhaustive pathway that should lead to turnkey happiness to a manageable project. The bodywork section is, of course, extensive, and a variety of car styles and ages have been used to illustrate the diversity of the range. This is one of the best Essentials in an already impressive series. - Classic Car Weekly. Another of Veloce's pocket-sized essential guides, this time dealing with the iconic Alfasud.
