Description
There is nothing like the bond between siblings, especially when that relationship includes a disabled sibling. Addi doesn't understand why her big brother Charlie can't talk to her. When her mom tells her that Charlie lost his words, Addi, with some help from her younger brother, embarks on a mission to find them. She looks all over and tries everything she can think of to find Charlie's lost words. In the end, she discovers there is more to communication than just words and more than one way to say "I love you."This book will appeal to a wide variety of audiences, especially anyone touched by disability and the communication challenges that occur with disabilities like autism, cerebral palsy, apraxia, speech disorders and developmental disabilities.
Author Biography
Patricia Taylor is a mom of three kids who quit her job as a lawyer when her oldest child was diagnosed with autism. She has always loved books of all genres as well as traveling, watching college football, running, cupcakes, bacon and brownies (which is why she runs). This book was inspired by Patricia's daughter who one year asked for nothing from Santa but for him to bring her brother's words back. Patricia now spends her time homeschooling her oldest son and teaching him alternative ways to communicate with a letter board, keyboard and writing, which has proven far more rewarding and challenging than practicing law ever was. She lives in Virginia with her husband, three children, two dogs and cat. Wendy Leach is an illustrator from Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City. She is a proud member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and was honored to be a featured illustrator on their website. This is her fourth book.
