Description

This book is dedicated to my daughter Abby. In her kindergarten year of school she was the only African American child out of four kindergarten classes. She had a plethora of questions regarding the differences in her skin, hair, and other physical features. Seeing her not only go through that situation but grow through that situation influenced the writing of this book. No child should ever feel like they aren't enough or someone else is better than them. All children should learn at an early age to embrace their differences and love who they are. My hope is that this book propels young children as well as parents to love themselves for who they are and not who the world believes they should be.

Author Biography

Grasetta Douglas is a proud Native Oklahoman. She grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and is a small-town graduate of Colbert High School. She attended Oklahoma State University for her undergraduate and Langston University for her Masters. Grasetta lived in Oklahoma City for 11 years and currently resides in Kansas City, Kansas with her husband of 9 years and her two children. Grasetta wants the readers of this book to realize that everyone is perfect just the way they are. Our society has formed an idea that only certain people are beautiful, successful, and relevant. Grasetta believes that if she can make one little boy or girl realize that they are amazing then she has written a purposeful book.
